The Resurfacing and Streetscape Project (2021) is anticipated to begin the week of July 5, immediately following the Independence Day holiday. Phase I of construction will occur on 9th Street from State Street to Hamilton Street and include streetscape installation and roadway resurfacing.
Phase II of construction is expected to begin Wednesday, September 1. Streetscape will be installed on State Street between 10th Street to 11th Street including an extended portion of the southwest and southeast corners of the intersection at State Street and 11th Street. Green parkway will be installed on the southwest corner of 11th and State Street. Resurfacing will occur on State Street between 10th and 11th Streets.
The project will continue through completion, expected this fall. All project activities and related timelines are weather dependent.
Impacts experienced by the business community, residents, and visitors are expected to be less than those resulting from the streetscape installation and construction from 2018-2019 on State Street which was largely more intrusive due to replacing water main and filling underground vaults.
Temporary access to building entrances during construction will be maintained similar to the streetscape improvements performed in 2019. Existing parking lots located near 9th Street and angled parking along 10th Street and 11th Street will be accessible to accommodate a temporary loss of parking during construction.
The City was awarded with Surface Transportation Program (STP) funding for a portion of the work with 80% provided by federal funding and 20% provided by local funding.
